Case against Armenia opposition leader sent to court with indictment

PanARMENIAN.Net - A criminal case involving Armenian opposition leader Vazgen Manukyan has been sent to court with an indictment, Aysor.am reports citing the Prosecutor General's Office.

The country's Investigative Committee revealed earlier that the preliminary investigation of the criminal case had been completed.

Manukyan has been charged under Article 301 of the Armenian Criminal Code (public calls for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order). He has already been summoned for questioning. At a rally demanding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation, Manukyan urged the army to rebel against the PM and his government. Manukyan is the leader of the coalition of 17 opposition parties dubbed the Homeland Salvation Movement. They have put up tents and are staging rallies in downtown Yerevan, calling for Pashinyan's resignation.

The PM came under fire after signing a statement with the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side was forced to return all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
