Armenia says will also use American, Chinese vaccines

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia will be using American and Chinese vaccines against the coronavirus in its inoculation program that is expected to roll out soon, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan said Monday, April 12.

The country will purchase American-made Novavax jabs, alongside the previously confirmed AstraZeneca and and Sputnik-V vaccines, Avanesyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to the Minister, China, meanwhile, will donate vaccines to Armenia, which will reach the country in the near future.

Also Monday, Avanesyan said Armenia will use AstraZeneca vaccine to inoculate people aged above 55, while folks under that age will get Sputnik-V shots.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Armenia grew by 510 to reach 203,327 on Monday morning. So far, 182,836 people have recovered, 3753 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 953 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
