Moldovan Air Force intercepts Ukrainian jet in its airspace

PanARMENIAN.Net - A Su-27 fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Force made an unauthorized flight in Romania's airspace on Thursday, February 24 morning, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense reports.

Two F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft took off immediately to clarify the situation and escorted the Ukrainian jet to the Bacau Air Base, where it landed.

After landing, the Ukrainian military pilot turned himself in to the Romanian authorities, the legal measures required in these situations will be taken, the Ministry added.

"Regarding the security situation in Ukraine, the Romanian Army has activated the military command points to monitor the situation and coordinate the forces and means for concrete situations that may arise," the Ministry said.
