Same companies importing new Azerbaijani fuel batch![]() January 8, 2026 - 15:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Ahead of a cabinet session, Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan confirmed that the second batch of Azerbaijani gasoline is being imported by the same companies as before. The importers are Mega Trade, owned by the family of MP Khachatur Sukiasyan, and Sisha World, which, according to media reports, is linked to businessman Samvel Aleksanyan through his wife Shogherina Mkrtchyan’s nephew, 24-year-old Samvel Mkrtchyan, as reported by RFE/RL. According to Papoyan, several thousand tonnes of fuel are being imported, including both premium and regular gasoline, as well as diesel fuel. “Anyone can import. The market is open,” Papoyan emphasized. Earlier, Azerbaijani media reported that the shipment to Armenia would include 1,000 tonnes of AI-92 gasoline, 1,000 tonnes of diesel fuel, and 1,800 tonnes of AI-95 gasoline. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
