Armenia explores new markets, including Turkey: FM

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said the search for new markets for Armenian agricultural products, particularly fruits, vegetables and flowers, has generated significant interest in several countries, including Turkey.

According to the minister, the effort is focused on the European Union market, the countries of Central Asia, Arab states and Iraq, Panorama.am reported.

"Our immediate neighbors as well, including Turkey, despite all the existing restrictions," Mirzoyan said.

He added that several pilot shipments have already been carried out, with their results expected to become clear in the coming weeks.

"I cannot hide the fact that, since these are new markets, logistical challenges arise. But we are monitoring all of this, managing the process and trying to support businesses," Mirzoyan said.

Russia has imposed restrictions on imports of several Armenian products. These include bans on imports of Jermuk mineral water, flowers and certain alcoholic beverages from Armenia. Restrictions have also been applied to a range of agricultural products, including tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries. Since June 2, Russia has restricted the import and transit through Armenia to other Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states of cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, grapes and other stone fruits. Since June 3, Russia has also restricted imports of eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits originating from and exported by Armenia.
