Holocaust monument desecrated in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - The monument to Holocaust victims was desecrated in Yerevan on the night of October 20.

“The frontside of the monument was coated with brown paint; on the backside “Death to Jews” was inscribed,” chairperson of the Jewish community of Armenia Rimma Varzhapetyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

“When we learned about it, I called the presidential administration and the essential measures were taken. A criminals case was also initiated,” she said.

“It was an act of barbarism but we do not rate this as anti-Semitism. It’s a personal matter but not Armenia’s policy,” Mrs. Varzhapetyan said, adding that the monument should never be left unattended.
