Georgetta Avakian: Meretz will continue lobbying for Armenia’s interestsJanuary 17, 2011 - 13:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Although Haim Oron, the supporter of Armenian issues in the Knesset, will be replaced by another Meretz MP, Zahava Gal-On, in March, the party will continue lobbying for Armenia’s interests, once again putting the bill on Israel’s recognition of Armenian Genocide to discussion, according to Georgetta Avakian, head of Hay Dat Jerusalem Office. As she stated in a conversation with PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, “Hay Dat maintains constant contact with party leaders, hoping for the Armenian Genocide bill to be put up to vote in 2-3 years time. We were very disappointed by the failure to schedule a vote on H.Res.252; still, we don’t give up and continue our struggle.” Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
