5-10% of drug rehab patients go back to normal lifeJune 24, 2011 - 14:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - 5-10% of drug addicts who’ve gone through rehabilitation centers go back to normal life, according to the head of Support to Integrated Border Management Systems in the South Caucasus (SCIBM) program. As Grigor Malentsyan told a news conference in Yerevan, drug addiction should be viewed as a chronic disease to be treated carefully and thoughtfully. As he noted, in 2009, 257 people were treated in rehabilitation centers; 359 were treated in 2010. “The number of rehab patients significantly increased over the year; with only 22 people treated in 2002,” he said. According to Malentsyan, Armenian institutions and social organizations have initiated u number of events to prevent the spread of drug addiction. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
