About 3000 people join Olympic Run in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - By decision of the Armenian National Olympic Committee, events dedicated to the Olympic Day traditionally celebrated on June 23 are held throughout the republic.

The day in Yerevan started with a run which brought together about 3000 people, including students, sportsmen and disabled people. The winners are supposed to get certificates and money awards.

Olympic Day was introduced in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games on June 23, 1894 at the Sorbonne in Paris. The goal was to promote participation in sport across the globe regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.
