Minister of Agriculture: Armenia exports some 10 thous. ton apricots, in 2011July 15, 2011 - 17:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Up to date, Armenia has exported 7 thous. tons apricots, Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Sergo Karapetyan said. “The export process is still continues and according to my calculations some 9-10 thous. tons apricots will be exported this year,” the minister said. Moreover, processing companies have already purchased 2000 tons apricots, according to him. “The purchase process will continue some 20 days. We do not have a record-breaking harvest this year but it is a bit above average for the last several years,” said Sergo Karapetyan. Presently the cost of apricot totals AMD500-600 per kg, whereas processing companies purchase 1 kg at AMD100. As regards the expected peach harvest, the Minister assured that it will be rich, however we may judge about the volumes only in autumn.
