Istanbul to host Hrant Dink award ceremonySeptember 13, 2011 - 13:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 15, the Cemal Resit Rey concert hall in Istanbul will host the official ceremony of Hrant Dink Hope Award. The ceremony will be attended by high-ranking officials and representatives of international organizations, as well as Rakel Dink, Hrant Dink’s widow, and family members. A concert of different music bands is expected during the event. Hrant Dink, editor-in-chief of Agos Armenian-Turkish newspaper was assassinated in front of his office on January 19, 2007. The suspect, 17-year-old Ogun Samast, was detained 32 hours later, based on confession of his guilt. In summer of 2011, Istanbul Court sentenced Samast to 23 years in prison. During court hearings Samast said that he fell victim to the anti-Armenian propaganda of Turkish authorities.
