Wall at contact line: propaganda or attempt to hide Azeri snipers

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan’s decision to build a protective wall at contact line with Artsakh is only a part of Baku propaganda, according to ex-foreign minister of Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

As Arman Melikyan told a news conference in Yerevan, Azerbaijan is attempting to repeat the experience of Israel which has built a wall to protect itself from Palestinians. “Still, I don't believe the wall will be built along the whole line of contact,” Melikyan said.

A member of ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Lernik Aleksanyan, however, spoke against a solely propagandistic message the wall is supposed to carry. “By building a wall, Baku might want to conceal its snipers,” he said.

Azerbaijan is planning on construction of a protective wall at the line of contact with NKR. According to Azeri media, a wall, 700 meters long and 3 meters tall, was already built near the village of Chyragly, bordering with Martakert Province.

Azerbaijan has been considering construction of a wall “to protect itself from Armenian snipers” since 2006.
