ETF experts stress need to boost Armenian workforce's marketability

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lifelong Learning in Eastern Europe new ETF project will allow educators from post-Soviet countries to exchange experience in life-long professional education, with the most effective strategies to be later implemented in Armenia, according to the head of educational and business department at Armenia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As Vahagn Hovhannisyan told a news conference in Yerevan, the life-long professional education promotes career growth and professional competitiveness, thus triggering economy growth.

The head of ETF business department, Pasqualino Mare, in turn, noted, “the workforce in Armenia, similarly to the whole region, is growing older. Professional retraining must be provided to make the workforce more marketable in the fast-changing world.”

European Training Foundation (ETF) helps transition and developing countries to harness the potential of their human capital through the reform of education, training and labour market systems in the context of the EU's external relations policy.

ETF has been an active partner of the Armenian institutions during recent years in the overall formulation of policies and implementation of actions linked to human resources development, including vocational training, skills, migration and entrepreneurship learning.

Within ETF's Lifelong Learning in Eastern Europe project, peer learning visits are organised in Armenia to address workforce education issues, with Adult Education and Lifelong Learning Association and Armenia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry as key partners in the project.
