Iranian ship sinks, 12 missing

PanARMENIAN.Net - A ship ferrying people from Iranian oil rigs to the mainland sank in the Gulf on Thursday, October 20, leaving 12 people missing, the official IRNA news agency reported.

The ship, carrying 72 people, was heading to the port city of Bushehr when it sank. The cause of the incident was unknown. IRNA said 62 people were rescued.

Head of Kish Ports and Navigation Administration said after SoS was sent before sinking and a helicopter was dispatched to the region and hopefully rescued 62 people.

Asgari-Nasab noted that eight of the twelve remaining have been caught in a water-proof chamber equipped with oxygen and the divers are looking for ways to rescue them.
