EuroBirdwatch 2010 marks International Year of BiodiversitySeptember 22, 2010 - 21:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Millions of migrating birds will leave Europe in these weeks flying to their wintering places in Africa. BirdLife International as well as the Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds (ASPB) invite people to take the opportunity on 2 and 3th October 2010 to discover the power and beauty of birds in the wild and also near human habitations. The EuroBirdwatch 2010 is at the same time as demonstration to save biodiversity. In 27 countries in Europe the national partners of BirdLife International invite people to observe the birds and learn more on the fantastic bird’s migration. In most countries the interested people will find observation and information posts where everyone can share the knowledge on the exciting life of the different bird species. For the migrating bird species the existence of suitable breeding areas in the north, saving stopovers on the flyway and appropriate habitats in the wintering regions is a question of survival. The national partners of BirdLife International focus in 2010 at the International Year of Biodiversity, which was declared by the United Nations Organization for reminding to urgent act and stop of decline the biodiversity on the world. During European Birdwatch 2010 the organizers and participants will focus at recognizing of birds diversity in all of Europe. The European Birdwatch is an annual event comprising hundreds of nationally organised activities. On these observation posts the number of birds and participating people are counted and reported via the national centres to the European centre. In the last years around 50’000 people took part and more then three million birds were observed on this single weekend. In 2010 the event is coordinated by SOS/BirdLife Slovakia, which is acting as the European Centre to process these data, ASPB reported.
