Vacationers will be provided with 250km of clean beach upon cleaning Sevan’s coastal territoriesNovember 6, 2010 - 15:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - At present, there are no issues with the water level rise in Sevan lake; however, we’re facing serious problems related to water clarity, the head of the presidential committee for Sevan issues, Vladimir Movsisyan stated. As he noted during his visit to Armenian region of Gegharkunik, the state of the lake does not meet clarity demands, putting the issue on priority agenda. Serious work was undertaken to the purpose: USD 7,5 million water purification stations were set up in the cities of Sevan, Gavar, Vardenis, Martuni and Jermuk through the courtesy of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The construction will be completed in 2011. AMD 12 billion was allocated by the Armenian government on sewage disposal. The submerged territories will be cleaned from trees and bushes, with the help of recently-purchased Finnish equipment. “After Sevan’s coastal territories are cleaned, the country’s population will have 250km of clean beach to spend their vacations at,” he added.
