VivaCell-MTS General Manager visits Development Center for children with autism

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the framework of the World Autism Awareness Day to be marked on April 2, VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian visited the Children Development Center for children with autism.

The Center accommodates twenty children aged 3-12. VivaCell-MTS has been supporting the Center since 2008. The specialized educational treatment of children with autism is an expensive process, as each child is being treated individually – one specialist per each child. In order to support this resource-consuming process VivaCell-MTS has allocated about AMD 49 million, thanks to which children attend this institution free of charge, the Company said in a press release.

Mr. Yirikian presented each child with a set of the world-known Dorling Kindersley publishing company’s “My First Board Book” illustrated and colorful series, with the help of which millions of children of the world get to know their mother tongue and the surrounding world.

Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain. Both children and adults with autism typically show difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities. Autism is four times more likely to strike boys than girls.

No special statistical data concerning this disorder exists in Armenia.

“All children deserve the opportunity to laugh and play and to become healthy and happy adults. VivaCell-MTS believes that joining hands and struggling together we will have positive result and progress for these children. We just want to give the families hope so that they don’t give up. We, as a corporate responsible company, are committed to supporting them in this,” Mr. Yirikian noted.
