Armenia to support Canada’s candidacy during elections of UN Security Council non-permanent member

PanARMENIAN.Net - The second stage of negotiations between Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and his Canadian counterpart Lawrence Cannon was held on June 1. The parties discussed agendas of the upcoming G8 and G20 summits.

Nalbandian said that Armenia is going to support Canada’s candidacy during the elections of the UN Security Council non-permanent member.

Besides, the current problems in international relations and ways for their solution were in the focus of the meeting.

The Armenian Foreign Minister also met with Canadian Minister of Science and Technology Gary Goodyear to discuss the two countries’ cooperation opportunities in this field. The two men attached importance to exchange of experience among representatives of the field. They agreed to establish cooperation between scientific and educational institutions of Armenia and Canada.

Later the same day, the Armenian Foreign Minister visited Carleton University to provide a lecture on Armenia’s foreign policy. Specifically, Mr. Nalbandian referred to the current Armenian-Canadian relations and their prospects, Armenia’s policy in the region, as well as the Armenian-Turkish normalization, the RA MFA press service reported.
