Peter Semneby’s statements misrepresented by Azeri media

PanARMENIAN.Net - European Union Special Representative Peter Semneby issued a correction of press reports on the visit of EUSR to Baku.

“In the light of recent press reports which were selectively quoted and misrepresented my statements during the visit to Azerbaijan, I would like to stress that the EU continues support of the activities of the OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs,” Semneby said in his statement.

“I reiterate the EU commitment to support for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, based upon the Helsinki principles of non-use of force or the threat of force, territorial integrity, and the equal rights and self-determination of peoples, that would allow the return of all internally displaced persons and refugees to their former places of residence,” EU special envoy stressed.

Earlier Azeri media quoted Peter Semneby as mentioning only the “return of Azeri refugees” during his visit to Baku.
