Erdogan slams EU policy towards Turkey

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan slammed the EU policy towards Turkey at the Conference of Turkish Ambassadors in the eastern province of Erzurum.

Referring to Turkey's EU membership process, Prime Minister Erdogan said, “Turkey has faced an unfair treatment in its EU membership process. We took our first step to join the Union in 1959, then made our official application in 1963. And 27 EU-member states tried to tease Turkey in this 50-year process. Turkey attended the EU summits till 2004. Then, EU decided not to invite Turkey to summits. This is another sign of their wrongful attitude towards Turkey.”

If countries concentrate their efforts to keep alive their old disagreements, enmities and problems, they cannot talk about foreign trade, exports, imports, tourism and globalization. Turkey has been showing patience for 50 years. If the EU does not want to accept Turkey as a full member, it should announce that since our patience has its limits," World Bulletin cited the Prime Minister as saying.
