  NKR open to constructive dialogue with Azerbaijan  February 21, 2011 - 13:19 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - Artsakh’s Permanent Representative in the United States Robert Avetisyan delivered last week a lecture at the Institute of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR) of George Mason University in Washington, DC. Moderated by ICAR Director, Professor Andrea Bartoli, the event focused on legal, political and humanitarian aspects of the establishment of Nagorno Karabakh Republic, its achievements and future prospects for Artsakh’s development, the Office of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the United States said in a press release. In his remarks, Avetisyan reviewed the history and legal aspects of formation of NKR, and the challenges the newly-established republic has been facing since proclaiming independence in 1991. Artsakh’s envoy also presented to the audience the republic’s achievements in the economic development, and as a democratic state. The question and answer session followed the NKR Representative’s speech, during which Avetisyan fielded the attendees’ inquiries about various aspects of the NK conflict. Closing the meeting, the Artsakh envoy reiterated that the republic’s commitment to the peaceful resolution of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, and stressed a solution to the conflict could only be viable if it takes into account the sovereign existence of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. “NKR is open to a constructive dialogue with Azerbaijan”, said Robert Avetisyan and expressed hope that Azerbaijan’s leadership would eventually adopt a constructive stance making resolution of the conflict possible.
