NKR Foreign Minister warns Canada Armenians about threat of war in ArtsakhPanARMENIAN.Net - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Georgy Petrosyan, who is on a seven-day visit to Canada on the invitation of the Hay Dat Committee, held a number of meetings with representatives of the political and party circles of the country. On February 18-20, Georgy Petrosyan made a speech at the meetings in Toronto and Montreal, dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of the Karabakh (Artsakh) national-liberating struggle. In his speech, Head of the NKR Foreign Office stressed the necessity of uniting the efforts of Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora for the effective resolution of the Karabakh issue. In Toronto, Georgy Petrosyan had meetings with the representatives of the Armenian political parties, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Ramkavar-Azatakan Party and Hnchak Social-Democratic Party, as well as members of the Hay Dat Committee. During the meeting, Georgy Petrosyan dwelt on the recent developments in the negotiation process of the Karabakh conflict settlement. NKR Foreign Minister also met with member of the Conservative Party of Canada and Chairman of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Harold Albrekht, former leader of the Liberal Party Stephan Dion, member of the Conservative Party Paul Galantray and Head of the Bloc Quebecois Party Gilles Duceppe. During the meetings with them, Georgy Petrosyan touched upon the current situation in the Caucasian region in the light of the recent political developments on the international arena. Head of the NKR Foreign Office also dwelt on Azerbaijan’s large-scale increase of military potential, and noted that it may have a negative influence on the present political situation and destabilize the whole region. Georgy Petrosyan also underlined that lately Azerbaijan had intensified anti-Armenian propaganda, particularly, that in the information field. During the meeting with Mayor of Cambridge (Southern Ontario) Doug Craig, a question of declaring Stepanakert and Cambridge sister cities was raised. Representatives of the Hay Dat Committee of Canada accompanied the NKR Foreign Minister during the meetings. On February 24, Georgy Petrosyan will leave Canada for the United States of America, NKR MFA press service reported. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
