Georgian expert: parties to Karabakh conflict getting ready for “reasonable suggestions”March 18, 2011 - 16:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian political expert Paata Zakareishvili commented on current stage of Karabakh conflict settlement. “I believe that tensions in Karabakh conflict zone will be preserved, yet it won’t come to the armed conflict,” the expert said. Stressing the international community’s interest in peaceful settlement of the conflict, the expert noted, “new steps towards the conflict settlement should be taken within the next two years. The recent Sochi-hosted meeting proves the conflicting parties are ready for reasonable suggestions,” Day.Az quoted Zakareishvil as saying. The joint statement adopted by the Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents in Sochi reads that the Presidents “considered matters of practical implementation of the trilateral statement adopted during the October 27, 2010, meeting in Astrakhan.” Specifically, the Presidents agreed to finalize the swap of POWs as soon as possible. The document stresses the parties’ willingness “to solve all disputable matters peacefully and conduct investigation of possible incidents along the ceasefire line under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group through the assistance of Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.” Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
