Georgia has more to lose than gain by recognizing Armenian Genocide, expert saysApril 23, 2011 - 09:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgia has more to lose than gain by recognizing the Armenian Genocide, according to a historical sciences candidate, expert Tamara Vardanyan. The expert is sceptical over the possibility of Georgia’s recognizing the Genocide. “By recognizing the Genocide, Georgia will alienate 10% of Muslim population of the country. Georgia views Turkey as a strategic partner, with the relations between the countries developing in all sectors,” she remarked. As the expert noted, unprecedented growth in Turkish –Azerbaijani capital was reported, thus rendering Georgia more dependant on these countries. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
