U.S. embassy in Baku urges to release arrested opposition supportersMay 11, 2011 - 13:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Spokesperson for the U.S. embassy in Azerbaijan Keith Bean said the U.S. calls on the Azerbaijani government to create essential conditions for freedom of assembly, freedom of expression and freedom of media. Bean noted that American officials continuously make such statements. Besides, Bean urged the country’s authorities to release of people arrested in Azerbaijan during rallies. “Our stance is clear and we would like protests to proceed peacefully,” SalamNews quoted Bean as saying. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
