If Yerevan Recognizes Karabakh Independence, a New War May Start, Baku «Warns»

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azeri Defense Minister Safar Abiyev warned that if Armenia recognized independence of Nagorno Karabakh hostilities may resume. «Armenian leaders state they may officially recognize NK independence. If this is the case, it may result in resumption of hostilities,» S. Abiyev stated at a meeting with US Deputy Assistant Defense Secretary Jim MacDugal. It should be reminded that in an interview with the Delo Slovenian newspaper Robert Kocharian had stated that «if talks are exhausted without any outcomes I do not rule out Yerevan recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic or joining of NKR to Armenia.» In the Armenian President's words, the actual recognition of NKR by Armenia has taken place long ago.

Besides, S. Abiyev also stated that «the Nagorno Karabakh conflict poses a threat to Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.»
