Turkey and U.S. agreed to use Incirlik air base for operations in Iran?

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Middle East Newsline, independent defense magazine has reported that Ankara and Washington are negotiating over the possible use of Incirlik air base in southern Turkey for operations in Iran and Northern Iraq. The news appeared in the magazine following the visit of Chief of General Staff General Büyükanit and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül to the United States. The news was also published in the Prime Ministry's bulletin, 'Turkey in the foreign press'.



"I wouldn't say that we have to use Incirlik to conduct operations in Iraq," U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Michael Moseley said. "I would say we are honored to be able to operate from Incirlik with our NATO partners because it makes all operations easier and it maintains that strategic partnership that we all value so much," reports Hurriyet.



Meanwhile Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül said Turkey will not let its territory be used for attacks against neighbor states, reports CNN-Turk.
