Israeli Knesset refused to discuss Armenian Genocide issue

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Israeli Knesset (parliament) removed from the agenda discussion around the issue of the Armenian Genocide at the beginning of 20th century. "Kol Israel" radio station reported 15 MPs voted for this offer, and 12 other deputies expressed for passing discussions to the Knesset commission.

Israel and Turkey closely cooperate in spheres of defense, trade, tourism and others. Jerusalem silently supports Turkey, despite the Catastrophe that the Jewish nation suffered and the struggle against all those who deny the fact of Holocaust. Haim Oron (Merez-Yahad) was the initiator of discussions over the Armenian Genocide. But Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chancellery of the Prime Minister exerted pressure on Oron. They "asked" the parliament to remove the offer from the agenda in order to escape from "the damage to Israeli-Turkish relations". Representatives of the Armenian Community of Israel stated that they are disappointed with the decision of deputies.
