EU ready to assist in construction of Transcaspian gas pipeline bypassing RussiaApril 2, 2007 - 19:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian, Azerbaijani and Kazakhstani Energy Ministers discussed in Baku the possibility of transporting hydrocarbon from the Caspian basin to the EU states bypassing Russia, the Russian News Service reports. Reconstruction and exploitation of gas and electric networks between Azerbaijan and Georgia as well as reconstruction of two underground gas reservoirs was also considered.It's also reported that EU is ready to render financial and political assistance to the building of the Transcaspian gas pipeline. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
