EU going to promote Karabakh settlement by building trust between nationsJuly 20, 2007 - 17:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby discussed problems of Karabakh settlement, implementation of Azerbaijan-EU Action Plan and cooperation in energy sector.Mr Semneby told a news conference that the European Union intends to assist in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement by initiating trust building measures. "There is much to do," Mr Semneby said noting that steps for establishing mutual trust are supposed by the Action Plans with Azerbaijan and Armenia. "The trip of the Armenian and Azeri intellectuals to Nagorno Karabakh is also very encouraging. This is a big step towards peace and I am hopeful that events of the kind will follow," he said, Day.az reports. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
