UNESCO to mark 100th birthday of Victor Hambartsumyan and William Saroyan

PanARMENIAN.Net - The UNESCO has included celebration of the 100th birthday of renowned Armenian scientist astrophysicist Victor Hambartsumyan and outstanding Armenian writer William Saroyan into the list of events scheduled for 2008-2009. Official events will be organized on the occasion, the RA MFA press office reports with a reference to the national commission for UNESCO affairs in Armenia.



Academician Victor Hambartsumyan is the founder of the universally known Byurakan observatory. He also made a number of unique discoveries.



Writer William Saroyan is one of the classical scholars of modern American literature.
