Sargsyan: we should establish relations with Turkey without preconditionsDecember 20, 2007 - 13:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian parliamentary hearings on the Armenian-Turkish relations are extremely important, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby said at a meeting with RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan."The European Union, as Armenia and Turkey's partner organization, is ready to countenance such discussions and serve as a bridge," he said. "We should encourage those people who work for improvement of the Armenian-Turkish relations." For his part, PM Sargsyan noted that it would be advisable to engage Turks in these discussions. "We hope the EU will encourage Turkey's participation in the process which provides a possibility to express opinions. I am confident that we should establish relations without preconditions. Both countries will benefit," he said. The Prime Minister noted the importance of Turkey's membership in the EU and said it would help to improve the Armenian-Turkish relations. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
