Armenia: ballot papers to be circulated among constituencies from February 14February 13, 2008 - 18:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Central Election Committee of Armenia has rejected the application of Levon Ter-Petrosyan's staff head Alexander Arzumanyan, who urged withdrawal of Serzh Sargsyan's nomination to the post of President of Armenia. The CEC cited article 27 of the RA Constitution which entitled every citizen to express opinion and RA law On Media which bars censorship. Spokesman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Abram Bakhchagulyan stated today that, starting from January 30 of 2008, 15 384 members of the electoral commission of Armenia have been participating in trainings on organization and realization of presidential elections. Abram Bakhchagulian told reporters that trainings are provided in 40 regions of the republic. The classes consist of two stages: review of a film and practical training on distribution of ballots, vote count and protocol composition, the CEC Spokesman said. The trainings are carried out with assistance of OSCE Yerevan Office and IFES, elections2008.am reports. For its part, ARD Dashnaktsutyun circulated a statement that reads, "We declare that we will not allow destabilization in the republic. With all responsibility we state that the only way out from the present situation is the exclusion of all the possible violations of the electoral legislation and conduction of fair, transparent and free elections." ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
