We express our sympathy and understanding with the Armenian people," he said after laying a wreath to the Memorial to Armenian Genocide victims today. The Armenian Genocide is the first genocide of the 20th century. Over 1.5 million of Armenians living in villayets of the Ottoman Empire were slaughtered during the period of 1915-1923.
