EU to help Armenia-Turkey reconciliation

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union supports the political dialogue launched by Armenia and Turkey and is willing to promote this process, German Ambassador to Armenia said.

"Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Turkey agreed to continue the process of normalization of relations, what is a promising fact," H.E. Andrea Joanna-Maria Wiktorin said during 'European Union and South Caucasus - A Security Partnership?' international conference in Yerevan today.

The dialogue between Armenia and Turkey was launched with the landmark visit of Turkish President Abdullah Gul to Armenia in September 2008 to watch a World Cup qualifier between the Armenian and Turkish soccer teams.

On November 24, 2008, Foreign Ministers of the two states met in Istanbul to discuss the process of normalization of bilateral relations.
