Construction named the engine of Armenian economic growth

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met Wednesday with representatives of private construction firms to discuss prospects of cooperation under the global economic crisis.



The meeting was also attended by Ministers of Finance and Urban Planning, Mayor of Yerevan and Chairman of the State Revenue Committee.



"Construction is the engine of Armenian economic growth," the Prime Minister said.



According to statistical data, the volume of construction works in Armenia has increased by 9,8% and totaled AMD 518075,0 million.



The entrepreneurs voiced their concerns over the decrease in price for real estate and touched upon problems in investment policy.



On completion of the meeting, PM Sargsyan stressed the importance to develop the mortgage market and to accomplish construction works in the 1988 earthquake zone.
