Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group new chairman appointed

PanARMENIAN.Net - Harold Albrecht, Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Conestoga, has been appointed Chairman of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group. Dr. Albrecht is a Dental Surgeon with many years of community service. A Conservative, he was recently appointed Deputy Government Whip in the House of Commons. Previous Chairmen of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group were Sarkis Assadourian MP, and Gary Goodyear MP.

"In my discussions with Dr. Albrecht, I have been impressed with how quickly he is familiarizing himself with the issues that are important to Armenians and to our community, and with his dedication to increase the ties between Canada and Armenia," said Taro Alepian, Chairman of the Congress of Canadian Armenians. "He asked for our assistance in carrying out his new mandate, and I assured him that we are committed to help in whatever way that we can."

Established in 2004, the Congress of Canadian Armenians is comprised of many of the large Canadian Armenian organizations. It serves as a united voice to present Armenian issues to the Canadian public and to promote Armenian interests.
