BSEC Summit to focus on Armenian-Turkish Border opening

PanARMENIAN.Net - BSEC Business Council 37th meeting is being held in Yerevan.



Business Committee meeting aims to elminate commercial barriers between BSEC Member States, facilitating the import and export of goods, elect new Committee Secretariat, discuss ways to boost economic integration and economic development in the region, Arsen Ghazaryan, RA Republican Union of Employers Chairman reported.



"BSEC Member States might have issues with each other. BSEC Business Committee was established to reveal those problems and provide solutions," he stated.



Samson Ozararat, BSEC Armenia Representative noted that main task of Summit was to bring Member States' legislation in compliance with economic policy clauses, as well as develop bilateral relations between countries of Black Sea region. According to Mr. Ozararat, Armenia is currently facing serious problems with two countries - Turkey, its biggest neighbor in the region, and Azerbaijan. "I hope that such international platforms as the BSEC Business Committee will help establish mutual understanding and facilitate further communication among countries," Ozararat said.



At the same time, the BSEC Armenia Representative announced that over the recent years, the country has made considerable progress towards economic development, creating a favorable atmosphere for business and investments.



In addition, Ozararat stated that the Summit will focus on Armenian-Turkish border opening, an issue which will contribute to regional integration. "We hope that economic interest will be a priority, and very soon we'll have results sought by all the countries in the region for so many years," Mr. Ozararat said.



Armenia assumed BSEC chairmanship in 2008 to be completed in April 30, 2009.
