OSCE Special Representative for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings to visit Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The OSCE Special Representative for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Ms Eva Biaudet, will visit Armenia for the first time on 6-8 May, the OSCE Yerevan Office said.



During this official visit, she will meet with a number of high level Armenian officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labor and Social Issues, Justice, Prosecutor General's office, Armenian Police, National Assembly of Armenia. She will participate in the meeting of the Anti-Trafficking Inter-Ministerial Council Working Group chaired by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.



The Special Representative meetings will help to further develop and strengthen cooperation of the Armenian anti-trafficking actors with the OSCE, determining the areas where the OSCE support and expertise can be of use.



The OSCE Office in Yerevan, in close cooperation with other international organizations active in Armenia, assists the Armenian Government in its efforts to combat human trafficking, developing anti-trafficking policies and mechanisms to protect and assist victims. The Office's activities are currently focused on supporting a national referral mechanism (NRM) development and improving anti-trafficking training for Armenia's law enforcement bodies. The OSCE Office in Yerevan, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Issues, has established an Anti-Trafficking Support and Resource Unit (ATRSU) in the Ministry. The Unit carries out activities aiming at improved protection of trafficked victims.
