Armenia and Iran to continue implementing strategic projects

PanARMENIAN.Net - Regardless the outcome of Iranian elections, strategic programs with Armenia would continue, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Seyed Ali Sagayn told a news conference in Yerevan.

"During the upcoming 4 years, Tehran will undertake steps towards the implementation of agreements signed during RA President's visit to Iran. They include the construction of Iran-Armenia railway and pipeline. An expert group dealing with the railway project will soon arrive in Armenia," Iranian diplomat noted.

Railway construction, according to him, will positively impact not only both countries' economy but also regional development. "Iran-Armenia railway may become a bridge between Far East and Europe. As regards good circulation volumes between two counties, it has already reached $ 250 million," Ali Sagayn stressed.

Touching upon Armenian community's role, Iranian Ambassador said that his country always treated Armenians with respect. "We highly appreciate our relationship with Armenia. Iranian Parliament has two Armenian deputies. All the rights of Iranian-Armenians are protected," the diplomat said. With regard to the Armenian journalist Silva Harutyunyan, Ambassador expressed hope that she will soon be pardoned. "Silva Harutyunuan is more my compatriot rather than yours," he stressed.
