Deno Gold Mining accused of jeopardizing human life

PanARMENIAN.Net - Kapan-based ecological security assurance organization has filed a suit against Deno Gold Mining, accusing the company of jeopardizing human life

"We will defend interests of Kapan residents in court.," said Arthur Ghazaryan, amicus curiae of the organization.

The Shahumyan region of Kapan where complex ore is extracted is dangerous for life. Frequent explosions and drilling caused destruction of dwelling houses and communications.

In 2008, Deno Gold Mining paid compensation to 8 families. However, 140 families did not receive any.

"The company is aware of the risks but refuses to pay compensation because it's disappointed with the results of activities," Ghazaryan said.
