Interaction-2009 military maneuvers kick off in Khazakstan

PanARMENIAN.Net - CSTO's Interaction 2009 maneuvers have started in Kazakhstan. This is the third stage of military drills aimed at checking CSTO member states' fighting capacity.



Apart from command-headquarter training supervised by Chief of Kazakhstan's Vostok Regional Command troops lieutenant-general Nikolay Pospelov, several events will be organized with the participation of Russian, Armenian, Kirghiz and Tajikistani military subdivisions and rapid reaction groups.



Kazakhstan's armed forces' "Yug" manuevers due in Matybulak training range in mid-October will mark the culmination of Interaction 2009 command headquarter exercises. They will bring together servicemen from CSTO Rapid Reaction Forces management bodies and subdivisions. Exercises are aimed at enhancing CRRF military trainings by introducing anti-terrorist methods, and practical skills concerning procedures of preparing and making joint decisions as well as using collective forces and military units in CSTO member states.



CSTO leaders are expected to leave for Kazakhstan for observing the active phase of exercises, Russian media report.
