UN declared October 1 as International Day of Elderly

PanARMENIAN.Net - The UN General Assembly declared October 1 as International Day of Elderly since 1990. Initially, this day was celebrated only in Europe, but today the Day of Older Persons is celebrated in many countries, including Armenia. According to the official data of National Statistical Service of Armenia in 2008 there were 523 thousand 839 persons of retirement age in the country, and the average pension in the same year amounted to 21 thousand 370 AMD.
