Football laid foundation for Armenian-Turkish reconciliation

PanARMENIAN.Net - UEFA President Michel Platini, who arrived in Bursa to watch the World Cup 2010 qualifier between Turkish and Armenian teams, said football matches are important events in sports.

"Experience showed that football may have a deeper meaning," RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told reporters in Bursa.

"Football laid the foundation for Armenian-Turkish reconciliation. This match is an opportunity for Presidents to discuss further steps. It is the key to the closed door, which divided our countries for years," he said.
