Employees of "Goris" penitentiary arrested for taking bribe

PanARMENIAN.Net - Studying the materials submitted by RA National Security Council (NSC), RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan has instituted a criminal cases against Head of "Goris" penitentiary Armen Petrosyan and senior prosecutor Lernik Khachatryan. The individuals concerned are accused of bribery. Deputy Head of Goris penitentiary is also accused of being involved in the affair.



NSC materials came to reveal that Iranian citizen Heros Bagrat-Masihi who was being searched by United Arab Emirates for forging payment cards, left Iran for Armenia on August 26, 2009. Upon his arrival, he was arrested by the law enforcer of Meghri and moved to "Goris" penitentiary.



Heros Nersisyan's father offered Prosecutor Lernik Khachatryan $ 12000 in return for his son's release. The accused was thereafter moved to prison hospital and his arrest was eventually substituted by cognizance not to leave.



Based on above-mentioned facts, RA General Prosecutor's Office instituted criminal cases against those involved in the affair and suspended Prosecutor from his competences before the court's final decision. Head and Deputy Head of "Goris" penitentiary Armen Petrosyan and Karo Zadoyan, third-class specialist of medical station G. Gavalbabunts, as well as father and son Nerisisyans (both Iranian citizens) were arrested, RA General Prosecutor's Office press service reports.
