Armenian Genocide Issue to be discussed during Conference on the Asia Minor Catastrophe

PanARMENIAN.Net - On November 7, Pontian Greek Society of Chicago will host the annual academic conference on Asia Minor Catastrophe. The event, which is co-sponsored by the Pan-Pontian Federation of USA & Canada, the Hellenic Link-Midwest and the Federation of Hellenic American Organizations 'Enosis', will focus on the experiences of Ottoman Hellenes living in Asia Minor, Pontos, and Eastern Thrace during the Hellenic Genocide, says a release addressed to PanARMENIAN.Net This year's panel will be moderated by the Director of the Zoryan Institute of Toronto Canada, Mr. George Shirinian. It will feature such known academics as Dr. Taner Akcam, from Clark University presenting on 'The Greek Deportations and Massacres of 1913-1914 a Trial Run for the Armenian Genocide', Danish Historian and researcher Matthias Bjornlund presenting on 'The persecution of Greeks and Armenians in Smyrna, Dr. Alexander Kitroeff and others.
