Third A/H1N1 suspected case registered in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The third suspected case of A/H1N1 pandemic (swine flu) has been registered in Armenia, and patients' analysis samples have been sent to London laboratory. One of suspects is an Iranian citizens who arrived in Armenia after receiving relevant treatment. The other two are young people who have flied from Moscow. They too, are receiving relevant treatment.



Vaccines currently available in Armenia will suffice for 10 thousand people. First of all they will be administered to individuals below age 24. Health Minister Haurutyun Kushkyan has issued recommendation for accelerating the process of receiving vaccines.



As noted by chief infectiologist Ara Asoyan, A/H1N1 is no more complicated than ordinary seasonal flu, in terms of contagiousness and lethal outcome as well. The only threat is the possible mutation that may weaken serum effect. Besides, the incubation period in case of this pandemic may last up to 7 days in contrast to ordinary flu whose incubation lasts no more than 4 days. The main symptoms of A/H1N1 are diarrhea, headache and temperature up to 370C. As possible preventive measure, chief infectiologist recommended population to use more liquid, dress warmly, wash hands several times a day and observe all rules of hygiene, Armenian TV channels report.
