Azerbaijan appropriates Armenian culture

PanARMENIAN.Net - It's the fourth time National Academy of Fine Arts participates in "National wear" international fashion contest in Moscow, Eduard Sedrakyan , rector at RA National Academy of Fine Arts told a news conference in Yerevan. According to him, disputes as to the cultural heritage: music, costumes, decorations, often occur between representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, he noted that Azerbaijan questions the fact that national accessories presented at contests are truly the part of Armenian culture.



"This is our fault. We're indifferent both to ourselves and our culture," Euard Sedrakyan stressed, adding that Armenian children have to receive more national culture- oriented education.



In his turn, Sociometer center director Aharon Adibekyan added that elements of Armenian culture are often appropriated by Azerbaijan, presenting its culture at exhibitions in Europe. "If same elements are presented within Armenian culture frameworks, they will, unfortunately, be perceived as a part of Azeri culture," he concluded.
