Turkey may ban pro-Kurdish party

PanARMENIAN.Net - Next week, Turkey's Constitutional Court will begin hearing the case of banning the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (CDP), requiring endorsement of 7 of 11 judges. The prosecution calls to ban the party since it is "focused on activities that could lead to the collapse of the state." Prosecutors allege that CDP had direct links with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and violated the law "On political parties". The prosecution also calls to forbid about 220 party members, including party leadership, being engaged in political activity, Hurriyet Daily News wrote.
