Ombudsman: RA juridical system bases on wrong principles

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan called for improvement of the republic's legal system.

"Our research showed that the right to fair legal procedure is not guaranteed in Armenia," he told journalists on Friday. "Being under the pressure of the Office of Prosecutor General, the juridical system is losing the population's confidence."

He also criticized the way the investigation into March 1, 2008 events was carried out. "If the initiated criminal cases reach Strasbourg, we will fail in 90% of suits," Harutyunyan said.
